got a raw 1st edition caterpie with nice color but a bit off-center. is it worth sending in for grading given its condition?

if the centering is noticeably off, it might not get a high grade, which affects the value. you could keep it raw and sell it as is if the color is nice, or only grade if you're sentimentally attached.

if the color is nice but it's off-center, i’d suggest holding onto it raw, especially if you're not super attached. better to sell it as is unless you think it'll still score a decent grade despite the centering.

if the off-centering is really noticeable, you might not get much of a bump in value from grading. better to keep it raw and enjoy it, unless you think you can still snag a 7 or higher – but that’s a gamble.
